Semester-Long UG Residential Research Internship

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is introducing a new semester-long internship program (MAESTRO) offering B.Tech students meaningful learning and research opportunities at IIT Hyderabad.

Total number of Interns: 20


1. Amount of Fellowship

Students will receive consolidated INR 7,000 per month.

2. Duration

It is a semester-long residential Internship program starting from 19th Jan 2026

3. Accommodation and Food

Hostel accommodation will be provided at the IITH student hostels.
Hostel and Mess charges are to be borne by the Interns.

4. Eligibility

  • The applicant should be a full-time/regular final year student ( non-IITH ) at the time of application and till the completion of the internship.
  • The applicant should be able to work full time for the Internship. Part-time/online internship is NOT allowed.
  • The student should stay in the IITH hostel
  • Eligible Discipline: BE/BTech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Production, Robotics and Mechatronics.
  • Applicants should be among the top 20% based on CGPA/% in their program (certified by Head of Institute/Principal).
  • Students must upload their latest CV and the NoC at the time of application.

5. Application Submission

  • Applications must be submitted through the Google form only. Application form
  • Students must select three preferences from the Research titles (in sequence).
  • Offline/email applications will not be accepted.
  • After the deadline, no applications shall be accepted.

6. Selection Procedure

  • Preliminary screening of applications and followed by online interview
  • Selection will be based on academic performance and interview performance.

7. Timelines

Announcement for inviting applications Nov 27th, 2025
Last date for submission of online form Dec 15th, 2025
Declaration of results (on MAE website) Jan 5th, 2026 (Tentative)
Start of the program Jan 19th, 2026

8. Notification of Selection

Selected candidates shall be informed through email only.
Final list will also be displayed on the MAE webpage under Latest News Section.

9. Certificate

Internship completion certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of at least 14 weeks at IIT Hyderabad

10. Communication

No separate communication shall be sent to non-selected candidates.

11. Decision

The decision of IIT Hyderabad authorities shall be final in the selection process.
No correspondence shall be entertained.
